One thing I love to do is to go out a drive and one of my favorites is a drive along the Niagara Parkway. Sir Winston Churchill apparently agrees with me as he was rumored to have said that it was ‘the prettiest Sunday drive in the world’. It starts at in Fort Erie at the fort and travels all the way along the Niagara River to Niagara-on-the-Lake. The entire trip from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario is about 56 km or 35 miles. There are plenty of attractions along the way and they include: Old Fort Erie (350 Lakeshore Road, Fort Erie) Willoughby Historical Museum Chippawa Battlefield Park Sir Adam Beck Generating Station Queenston Chapel Laura Secord Homestead (29 Queenston Street, Queenston) Mackenzie Printery & Newspaper Museum (1 Queenston Street, Queenston) McFarland House (15927 Niagara Parkway, NOTL)The Niagara Parks Commission has more information about the Niagara Heritage Trail. Of course, there is a lot more to see along the Niagara Parkway. Other drives I like to take:Old Highway 8 from St. Catharines to Stoney Creek Effingham Road in Pelham to St. Catharines Lakeshore Road from NOTL to St. Catharines The lake shore roads from Fort Erie to Wainfleet Clifton Hill and Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls |
